How to avoid Smart-Pricing

One of the things that a lot of Adsense Publishers are going through at the moment is called Smart-Pricing. This is where Google pays you tiny money (such as $0.01 or $0.02) consistantly because the clicks you get aren’t good for the advertisers so they reduce your earnings. Now, it is possible to get out of Smart-Pricing, and here is some tips on how to avoid smart-pricing or getting out of it.

  • Accidental Clicks - I know you want clicks, but sometimes you may want high paying clicks so put ads in places where people aren’t likely to click on the ads by accident, make them want to click the ads.
  • Bad Countries - Now you may not want to do this, but if you’re running a website like a proxy, then you may want to block low-paying countries such as Iran or China because these are the places that advertisers don’t generally like so blocking them will avoid smart-pricing mainly.
  • Follow the rules - This may be quite an obvious tip but follow the Google ToS, so don’t ask people to click your ads on your site or don’t put images near ads etc…
  • Block Ads - If you’re already in Smart-Pricing, try to block some low-paying ads. You may find that you aren’t in smart-pricing at all, it’s just the type of ads shown.
  • Content - Provide better or more content on your website, and try to use more keywords in the content so the Adsense Bot can show better ads on your site, and hopefully more higher-paying.

Follow these tips as much as you can because if you don’t, you may see Smart-Pricing on your site(s) which means you’ll have a big loss of earnings, which could be very bad for people who count on their adsense earnings.
