Does Web Hosting affect SERP’s?

I’ve heard some people question this theory lately. Some people think that the hosting you use (Based on the country) can affect your SERP’s. For example, if your hosting is located in the United Kingdom, you won’t do as well in the United States, and vice-vera.

I did a few tests to check whether this was true or not.

First of all, I searched Site SEO on Google UK. Page 6. Shocking. After that, I tried out Google US, and it came up in position 2. The hosting is from the US.

Second of all, I searched General Dir on Google UK. Nowhere to be seen. Then, I tried it out on Google US, and it came up in the top position. The hosting is also from the US.

Based on these results, it shows that hosting actually does affect your rankings. That means it could be really important for a website/company targetting a single company, such as London Solicitors, because if their hosting is located in the US, then they could be doing well in an area they don’t need.

For all local based websites, I recommend getting hosting from the same country as the one you’re targetting.
