Adsense Part 3 - Channels
Before we get your Adsense ads optimized and making money, you need to learn about URL Channels.
Channels are what keep your Adsense account tidy and clean, and the most important thing it does is, it lets you track your ads individually. Say for example you had 5 websites, you could create 5 channels to use, so then you could track the data for each individual website to help you manage. Also, if you had one website with multiple ad units on, you could use different channels to see how each individual ad unit is doing.
Now that you know what they are, it is important that you know how to create them. Login to Adsense so that you’re on the Overview where you can see your revenue. Then, go to Adsense Setup on the Navigation Bar and click Channels. There you are left with two options - Custom Channels or URL Channels. URL Channels are useful, but aren’t as common or useful, so you will normally want to use Custom Channels. If you click “Add new custom channels” from there, you will be able to enter a name for the channel, and then once you’ve added it, you can use it when creating or editing an ad unit.
Now you should be able to add your own ad channels. Its pretty easy to do so, and I highly recommend that you use them, it gives you a lot more extra information that you’ll need in future.
Thank you for reading Part 3, we look forward to seeing you on Part 4.
