Both Google Analytics and AWStats provide interesting stats for your website - regarding the traffic you receive. Both programs are free - but which one is better?

On the one hand, Google Analytics is the best because it provides more information on the countries that the traffic comes from, and it also provides very smooth graphs to show the total traffic. It also shows more in-depth information on which pages your visitors go to and what they don’t so you can see which sections of your websites you need to get more traffic for. One of the best things about Analytics is the Goal Management. You can select which page where a goal is completed so you can traffic how many people complete an action that you want them to.

On the other hand, AWStats is the best because it provides a lot of information on the Search Engines that have visited your website and how many times they’ve visited your website and your robots.txt file. There is also lots of little information you may be interested in - such as which internet browsers are the most popular for visiting your website. It provides all the key information that you could possibly need, such as traffic, countries etc… plus lots of small information.

In conclusion, Google Analytics is the best because it provides the information about your website in a very user-friendly way thats easy to recognise and see how you’re doing. The information it provides is a lot neater, and the goals feature is wonderful if you’re tracking sales or where they go from pages. Both programs are good, and both are free.
