Best Domain Registrars and Hostings

Domain Registrars and Hosting don’t really have much to do with SEO apart from the country that the hosting is from relative to the SERPs on Google, but its always good to have good registrars and website hosting for your website.

Namepros - These opperate in NamePro Dollars (NP$) and you can register domains here. They don’t provide hosting but the domains that you can register are cheap. Another good thing about them is that they do good discounts on the registrations because they’re linked with eNom. The only problem is that you can’t register domains directly from money, you have to buy NP$ first.

Spacial Hosting - An ordinary host that provides registrations and hosting. The prices are reasonable, and the hosting is reliable. This host is quite small which is good because theres more space on the server and they provide good support. They also run good offers, such as a free domain with every hosting package.

Triple - An ordinary host. Although the prices are high (especially for .info registrations), they are reliable. They are popular mainly because of the fantastic offers they run. For example, they ran a competition where for every 3 people you get to register, you get a domain registration completely free! These offers are consistant, and thats whats really good about them.

1and1 - A really popular host. One of the most popular hosts there is, and for good reason too. The prices are cheap, and the hosting is reliable. Hopefully they can manage the popularity. They don’t really run many consistant offers though.

GoDaddy - They are incredibly popular and provide a lot of website services other than domain registrations and hosting. GoDaddy is one of the first hosts people think of when they think of website hosting and they provide good service.

As you can see, all of these hosts are good in their own way, it just depends on what you’re looking for from a host - whether its big hosting packages, cheap prices or good offers and competitions.

Blog Trackbacks or Blog Comments?

This is an interesting debate. In blogs, everyone knows that there are two ways of getting backlinks - commenting on the articles (most common) and trackbacks (less common).

In case you don’t already know, a trackback is where you read someone elses article and decide to put a link to that article on your site. Then, their forum script receives the trackback and automatically puts a link back to your site as a comment. Its like an automatic reciprocal link exchange.

Although Blog Commenting is more popular and quicker, you’ll be suprised to know the answer to this debate. Actually Blog Trackbacks are worth more than Blog Comments in terms of SEO because a comment is just giving your view and Google can notice that, whereas a trackback is like an actual link which apparently gives more. Nobody can 100% confirm this, but this is what many people believe.

In conclusion, although blog commenting is easier, try to spend time building up valid blog trackbacks too. These are better than comments and the better the links, the better your SEO. More doesn’t always make it better.

XHTML better in SEO than HTML?

Well XHTML is deemed better these days because its seen as a cleaner version of the original HTML and thats why quite a few people are following the strict rules to get to valid XHTML.

However, it doesn’t really affect SEO. You would have thought that the search engines would have chosen to put these cleaner websites above the ordinary, bad-coded websites (in general) to improve their results but they still choose to treat them as an ordinary website.

If your website isn’t valid XHTML, I recommend you spend the time to make it valid because you never know, it may help you in future if search engines do decide to put XHTML valid websites in priority.
